Louisiana has always been a great place to spend the holidays. Maybe it’s the friendly people or the Cajun cooking, or maybe it’s the gorgeous green spaces. This year, you can add one more item to the already impressive list of seasonal attractions: Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is coming to Gonzales, making Louisiana even better than normal this holiday season. It’s the first time the award-winning light and music display will be available in Louisiana, so head to the Lamar Dixon Expo Center on Nov. 17–Jan. 7 to see the show. It starts at dusk and runs to 10 p.m. during the week, and it runs even later during the weekends.
What Is the Show?
You’ve seen lights and listened to music before, so what’s the big deal with this show?
Well, for starters, it has more than two miles of light displays. These aren’t your standard displays, either; they are all custom made and programmed to dance to the music. You just have to turn your vehicle’s radio to the proper station and you’ll watch the lights dance before your eyes.
Plus, there is a special 12 Days of Christmas display. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen, so drive over and see it in person.
How to Avoid the Lines
This light show is seriously popular. People come from well beyond Baton Rouge to attend, and the lines can get insane. Avoid the rush by going on Mondays through Thursdays – otherwise, you could end up spending a long time in the line.
Load Up the Car and Save
If you bring a car or van to Shadrack’s, it’ll cost $25 to drive through. Activity vans, limos, and half buses pay $40, while tour and school buses get in for $80. Load up as many people as you can, and you’ll get a great deal when you drive through the light display.
You can also get a great deal at Brian Harris Chevrolet in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Come by before the show and pick up a new ride to take to the light show. Consider something roomy, such as the Chevrolet Tahoe. Then, you can load up your family, your friends, and even a few neighbors to hit the light show. This vehicle has so much room you might even be able to pick up Santa and a couple of reindeer along the way.
